Management Team:
The Pearson Construction Company has assembled a highly experienced and
trained team of construction professionals to serve the needs of its clients.
They can become involved in a project from any stage of its development from
concept to project closeout. They have the capabilities to work through the
design phase, providing pre-construction services such as, cost and schedule
development, constructability reviews and value engineering.
When providing Design Build services, Pearson Construction will team with
Pearson Engineering to deliver this turn-key solution. Pearson Engineering
employs both architects and engineers with vast experience in the design and
engineering of numerous building types. Starting with defining the owner's
design intent through the final punch-list, the Pearson Engineering staff truly
understands the team oriented Design Build concept.
Every Pearson employee participates in continuing education regarding their
professional development. Whether it is training on new software applications
or learning new building system techniques for pre-engineered metal buildings,
Pearson is dedicated to providing its staff with the resources required to keep
pace with the ever changing construction industry.
The following biographies highlight the individual experiences and backgrounds
of the Pearson Construction management team.
Burton H. (Burt) Pearson, II - President
Burt has been with Pearson Construction Company since 1979 with over 30
years of construction industry experience. Burt has served in every capacity
with the company starting on the job site on through to project management and
estimating. As president of Pearson Construction Company, Burt oversees all
aspects of the company including project management, accounting, and business
development. He has a focus on the strategic development of the company,
positioning it for long term viability through the utilization of technology.
Burt is dedicated to ensuring that Pearson Construction will remain the dominant
design/build and general contracting firm in Southwest Michigan.
Burt graduated from Central Michigan University with a B.S. degree in Business
and Computer Sciences. Burt is involved in the following organizations: Elected to the
Michigan AGC LRD Executive Committee, a AGC Board Member, Benton
Harbor and St. Joseph Rotary Club, Cornerstone Alliance, and the Masonry
Institute. Burt also serves as a Shoreham Village Trustee, and sits on the following
boards: St. Joseph Township Planning & Zoning, St. Joseph Public Schools Foundation Board,
and Michigan AGC Executive Board.
Deanna L. Flagel - Controller
Deanna has been with Pearson Construction Company since 1985. As
controller, Deanna is involved with all aspects of the company's financial
operations. Deanna's responsibilities include: preparing monthly and annual
internal financial statements and reports, plus accounts payable and receivable.
She also is in charge of orienting new employees, maintaining employee records,
and administering employee benefits and payroll. Deanna earned an A.A. degree
in Accounting from Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
Darrell D. Hinman - Vice President - Sales
Darrell has been with Pearson Construction Company since 1972 and has
over 35 years of construction industry experience, with an emphasis on Design
Build. As vice president of sales for Pearson Construction Company, Darrell
oversees all aspects of the pre-engineered building operations. Darrell has
served in various capacities with the company including: draftsman,
pre-engineered assistant manager, project and pre-engineered metal building
manager, as well as vice president of sales. Darrell's skills include: building
design, value engineering, sales, schedule sequencing, subcontract bidding
and negotiating, and project cost accounting. Darrell graduated from Lake
Michigan College in Benton Harbor, Michigan with an A.S. degree in Industrial
Technology.
Sean R. Ebbert - Vice President
Sean has been with Pearson Construction Company since 1989 and has over
18 years experience in the construction industry. As vice president, Sean
is involved with all aspects of the company's operations. Sean has served in
every capacity with the company including: various field trade team members,
field superintendent, project manager, estimator, contract administrator, as
well as vice president of operations. Sean earned a B.S. in Construction
Science and Management from Western Michigan University. He is also involved
in the St. Joseph - Benton Harbor Rotary Club and Cornerstone
Alliance, the Chamber of Commerce of Benton Harbor and St. Joseph, Michigan.
Robert C. Swem - Project Manager
Rob has been with Pearson Construction Company since 1998 and has 19
years of construction industry experience. As project manager for
Pearson Construction Company, Rob manages all aspects of construction
projects. Rob's responsibilities include: preparing and executing bids,
proposals and contracts, project planning and initiation, construction
scheduling, estimating, budgeting and cost control, and project closeout
and warranty. Rob earned a A.S.T. in Building Construction Technology
and a B.S. Business Management from Ferris State University.
Trace R. Volpe - Director of Business Development
Trace joined Pearson Construction Company as director of business development
in 2004 and has
over 20 years of professional construction and environmental experience. As
director of business development, Trace oversees all aspects of sales and
marketing for the company. He is responsible for new sales generation, strategic
planning, public relations, web site development and proposal generation.
Trace earned a B.S. in Construction Management from Michigan
State University.
