About Pearson:
Pearson Construction Company has a rich history dating to 1918 in Southwest Michigan. Today, Pearson is guided by seven principles that direct the company daily. Learn more about Pearson below.

History
Pearson Construction Company, headquartered in Benton Harbor, Michigan, began providing construction services in 1918 and over the last 90 years has evolved into a full service design build, construction management, and general contracting firm. The founder of the company, Joel Pearson, emigrated from Sweden in 1914 and became the first of three generations to lead the company. Incorporated in 1931, the company grew into a nationally known firm handling many governmental, institutional, commercial, and industrial projects.

During World War II, Pearson Construction established additional offices in Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio. Working in four states at the time, the company constructed the entire military facility at Camp Breckenridge, Kentucky - a three million dollar project in 1943. Soon after the war, the company built many of the local landmarks in Berrien County including, Mercy and Memorial Hospitals, Berrien County Jail, Whirlpool Administrative Center, Berrien County Court House, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Inter City Bank, Clark Equipment, Napier Parkview Baptist Church, St. Joseph Holiday Inn, Sears and JC Penney at Orchards Mall, and the St. Joseph, Niles, and South Haven High Schools.

To keep pace with the ever changing face of the construction industry and continue to provide the highest quality with personal service, Pearson Construction has become a regional company focusing on the needs and demands of Southwest Michigan and Northern Indiana. The creation of Pearson Engineering, Inc. in 1956, and the association with Star Building Systems in 1964 have allowed Pearson Construction to remain on the forefront of innovation and construction deliverables. As a leader in the pre-engineered building industry, Star Buildings provides the most advanced and economical building systems in a fraction of the time that conventional systems require to be designed and built. Staffed with highly trained and experienced architects, engineers, and designers, Pearson Engineering, Inc. provides efficient, economical project design with both traditional and design build methods of project delivery. Pearson Engineering's design and engineering expertise has allowed the company to become a true design builder.

In 1972, Pearson Equipment and Services Corporation was formed to provide construction equipment for the building industry in the area. It also provides the necessary skilled labor trades specializing in concrete, carpentry, masonry, and steel erection for the company's projects. Pearson Construction's field operations are maintained and supervised by Pearson Equipment and Services, demonstrating Pearson's commitment to schedule and budget control by using its own labor forces whenever feasible.

Pearson Construction Company's reputation is built upon understanding the needs and requirements of each client and providing the service they expect, time after time. Pearson's network of experienced professionals and resources can make seemingly unachievable situations possible. Long noted for their leadership in commercial, industrial, and institutional construction, Pearson continues to broaden their professional services to a wide variety of building applications. In the ever changing construction industry, Pearson Construction Company still operates on the solid foundation of principals that Joel Pearson adhered to in 1918:
Integrity - Quality - Fair Treatment.

Safety
Safety is always the number one priority on every Pearson Construction project, no matter how small or large. Our employees are trained in the company's safety procedures, based on MIOSHA. Technology plays a key role in all areas of operations at Pearson Construction. The latest software and hardware is utilized throughout the company, from project management to accounting. The company constantly upgrades and replaces outdated software and hardware in order to take advantage of the best technology in the marketplace. The Pearson staff uses Primavera Expedition for project management, MC2 for estimating, and Primavera Suretrac for scheduling.

Community Involvement
The company and its employees participate and contribute to numerous community organizations and associations. It is the philosophy of the company that involvement in community is a vital component to being a good corporate citizen.
